The finest preamps

The inclusion of ultra-transparent preamps enable the AI2 to deliver optimised 24-bit, 96kHz recordings. Utilising the on-board impedance switch allows you to effortlessly switch between high (guitar bass, drum machines, and synths) and low (microphones)impedance sources.

Thanks to the inclusion of 48V phantom power, you'll be able to imbue excellent levels of clarity and detail into your recordings through the use of condenser microphones. The abundance of gain that the AI2 offers enables you to incorporate your favourite low-output ribbon and dynamic microphones, without the fear of hiss ruining those all important takes!

Optimised signal levels

Embrace the on-board clip detectors to keep an eye on your signal level at all times. This allows you to monitor the quality of your signal. Green indicates a healthy level, whilst red suggests that the level is "hot" and would benefit from being reduced. The AI2 makes it incredibly easy to make excellent records. With this in your set-up its hard to go wrong.

Powerful mixing and mastering capabilities

Produce, mix and master like the pros. The versatile output section of the AI2 allows you to connect your tried and tested speakers and headphones in order to monitor your signal.

You'll be granted even more flexibility via the ability to switch between stereo and mono playback. This enables you to quickly check phase relationships and ensure your mixes will translate to portable mono speakers.

What's more, the independent level control allows you to find a level that's comfortable for you to work for extended periods of time, minimising the risk of hearing loss, fatigue, and discomfort.

Record where you like. However you like. SubZero understand that the modern recordist must be flexible. No longer tied to one location, they are expected to achieve the same, consistent results in a wide variety of venues. That's why we're keen to incorporate USB power into the AI2.

The ability to no longer depend on power sources will liberate you. As long as you have a laptop, or MacBook with a USB slot available, you'll be free to work anywhere. This proves particularly useful for high quality location recordings, or, video sessions where audio is required.
